Job Description

Purpose
This position will require a unique combination of content writing skills, marketing insights and customer service knowledge. The Content Writer / Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in the development and execution of AOAExcel’s marketing initiatives, along with the creation of educational-based content for doctors of optometry.

This position offers varying forms of support, such as clerical, record keeping, data entry, and communications at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
– Compose content to support a variety of marketing campaigns such as AOAExcel’s blog, social media & downloadable guides. Research a multitude of subjects involving AOAExcel’s endorsed-business partners (Career Center, Malpractice Insurance, Life & Disability Insurance, Student Loan Refinancing, Retirement Savings, etc), including interviewing doctors of optometry.
– Work directly with the Marketing & Business Development Manager on marketing campaigns and initiatives
– Assist in analyzing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by compiling Google Analytics or other data and/or feedback.
– Maintain an assortment of data within Excel spreadsheets on a quarterly basis
– Assist with developing and reviewing assets from partners and outside creative agency
– Facilitate monthly review calls with partners & maintain a running agenda
– Act as a Customer Service Representative for AOAExcel, serving as a liaison to AOA members and staff with inbound inquiries.
– Coordinate various events & meeting logistics
– Various other duties, as assigned.

Our Ideal Candidate
– BS/MS in journalism, marketing, public relations or similar preferred, but not required.
– 1-2 years of advanced content writing experience with degree in journalism, marketing, public relations or similar. 2+ years experience required for those without associated degree.
– Advanced content writing skills with the ability to perform one-on-one interviews. Capable of writing various forms of content including blogs, social media posts & print publications
– Ability to work on several marketing initiatives with a variety of partners simultaneously
– Excellent communications skills. This position requires the ability to collaborate with a team, both internally & external, and communicate directly with doctors of optometry.
– Proficient in MailChimp (or similar), Microsoft Excel & Google Analytics
– Familiarity with social media platforms & advertising on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn
– Self-starter who is willing to take initiative. The desire to provide feedback and input on a daily basis is required. Must excel at paying attention to the small details.

Travel Requirements
This position may require travel once a year to Optometry’s Meeting or as needed.
